Common questions
What is Moonlight Monitor?
Moonlight Monitor is a website and cron job monitoring service. It checks your sites and APIs on a schedule, watches for scheduled jobs that stop reporting in, and alerts you by email or Slack when something goes wrong.
How often are my sites checked?
The Free plan checks every 5 minutes. Freelancer and Business plans can check as often as every 30 seconds.
What can I be alerted about?
Every plan alerts you when a URL becomes unavailable. Paid plans can also alert when a keyword is missing from (or appears on) a page, or when a URL returns an unexpected HTTP status code.
How do alerts reach me?
By email on every plan. Business plans add a Slack integration so alerts land in the channel your team already watches.
What is heartbeat monitoring?
Heartbeat monitoring, also called a dead man's switch, watches for a signal instead of sending one. Your server or scheduled job pings a Moonlight Monitor URL on a schedule, and you are alerted if the ping does not arrive within the grace period you choose.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes. You can cancel at any time from your account. Plan changes take effect from your next billing cycle, and we do not refund unused time in a billing cycle.
How do I get help?
Use the contact page and we will reply within one business day.
